Hillstone Environmental is backed by Golden Gate Capital, a leading US private equity firm based in San Francisco. Golden Gate has a diverse portfolio of companies with approximately US $15 billion in committed capital. Their companies are in industrial manufacturing, software, semiconductors, retail, and financial services. Many of their retail companies are household names.

Golden Gate’s investor base is large and stable, focusing on long-term growth. Investors include several prominent universities, charitable foundations, international governments, and international banks.

Rajeev Amara

Mr. Amara founded and oversees Golden Gate Capital’s Industrials Investing Practice, which comprises 12 Companies aggregating to over $4 billion of revenues. The philosophy of the Industrials Practice is to invest in competitively differentiated market leaders and aggressively grow their earnings by prioritizing innovation and capital allocation.  He graduated from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and serves on the Board of the University’s Graduate School of Education, one of the top ranked educational research Schools in the world.


Gregg Jones

Gregg is the CEO of EP Minerals, a Golden Gate Capital portfolio Company. Prior to joining EP Minerals, he served as Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Plastics Division, for Rock Tenn Company. Gregg also worked at Union Camp Corporation (now International Paper), Imerys and UCB Films. He has significant general management, operations, international sales, strategic marketing, and business development experience across a variety of industrial businesses and over 25+ years domestic and international leadership experience. Gregg holds a BS in Chemical Engineering, an MS in Chemistry and an MBA from Syracuse University in New York.


Jay Parkinson

Jay is responsible for leading, directing, and executing Hillstone’s strategy and growth initiatives. Prior to founding Hillstone, Jay was an Operating Executive with Golden Gate Capital focused on investment opportunities in the Energy Services, Infrastructure and Exploration and Production segments. He previously served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Nuverra Environmental Solutions, a company focused primarily on providing full-cycle environmental, waste management and recycling solutions to the upstream energy sector. Prior to joining Nuverra, Jay was a Managing Director in the Energy Investment Banking group at Jefferies and Company, where he focused on upstream unconventional oil and gas. While at Jefferies he advised on a number of mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures and financing transactions in the energy sector. Jay holds an M.B.A. from Tulane University’s A.B. Freeman School of Business, an M.S. from the London School of Economics, and a B.A. from Georgetown University.


Priyesh Ranjan

Priyesh is the CEO of ShaleApps, responsible for developing the corporate and business strategy to develop digital solutions for the oil and natural gas industry.  Prior to joining ShaleApps, Priyesh held positions of increasing leadership at Halliburton and Baker Hughes across strategy, business development, technology solutions, and operations.  He focused on the areas of digital oilfields, unconventional asset evaluation and development, reservoir and asset monitoring, and renewable energy.  Priyesh has also led start-up companies in the past.  He has authored several patents and thought leadership publications in the space of digital energy.  Priyesh is an Electrical Engineer from the University of Oklahoma.


Shyam Ravindran

Shyam Ravindran joined Golden Gate Capital in 2008. Within the Industrials Investing Practice, he focuses on the Aerospace & Defense, Energy, Transportation, and General Manufacturing sectors. Prior to joining Golden Gate Capital, he worked in the San Francisco office of Bain & Company. Mr. Ravindran has a BS in Management Science and Engineering with a minor in Computer Science from Stanford University. He serves on the board of directors of several GGC portfolio companies, including Hillstone Environmental Partners, ShaleApps, Tronair, and GAL Manufacturing.
